Safe Ways to Diet

Dieting has become one of the biggest crazes in the U.S. in the past decade or so.  There are numerous magazines devoted to teaching families to eat healthier and promising that they have found “The Right Exercise for you” or telling you how to “Lose Weight in Two Weeks”.

Along with the magazines, many television shows are based on how to make your favorite meals healthier or how to reduce fat in almost every dish.  However, I have noticed that if you don’t butter your bread for two weeks you will most likely not notice a difference in your waste size.

This is why so many Americans fall into diet fads and come out without any success.  We read a headline that suggests we will be happier by changing one step in our lives and as a result are even unhappier after we see no drop in their size or weight.   For more than 90% of Americans diet fads only create frustration.

For those that are determined though, there are some more practical answers to melting away pounds and staying happy along the way.  Weight loss programs such as Jenny Craig and Weight Watchers provide councilors and group sessions that you can attend so that you feel like you aren’t dieting alone.

Weight Watchers holds weekly meetings in various areas to help people all over the country tackle their confidence issues and lose weight at a healthy rate.  Each week there is a discussion about a certain topic, one week it may be how to stop stress eating and the next week may be all about how to cook your favorite food and not feel guilty about it.  Before every meeting you weigh in privately so that you can track your progress.

Along with weekly meetings, you can also find support online.   Online are the various meal plans for you to chose from and how to calculate the points of each item.  Weight Watchers, with a little bit of reading and a lot of support, has proven very successful.

Jenny Craig teaches its customers all about portion control and healthy eating habits.  It also tells you how to increase your physical activity safely and effectively.   Just as WW did, Jenny Craig also provides consultants that you can meet with in person.  If face-to-face is not your thing, there is Jenny Direct which allows you to talk to consultants from the comfort of your own home.

For many, Jenny Craig is a little more complicated than Weight Watchers.  Weight Watchers is a very lenient program for those who love food.  Jenny gives you a much stricter diet program.  Both systems seem to prove effective, as long as you step into it with a strong attitude, you will step out looking fabulous.
