Every year more and more people are diagnosed with the serious disease such as diabetes. If you did not know, diabetes is a disease which prevents a person’s body from producing or properly using insulin. Unfortunately, the disease can be both deadly and painful, and affects all age groups. Diabetes is a disease that affects almost every family. It has had an immense effect on my family. My grandfather, Louis Fresta, and my grandmother, Edith Westerfer, both lost their lives to diabetes. Their losses were hard and they are deeply missed. I have taken it upon myself to honor their lives and help lend a hand in the fight against this disease.
